Extracts from a journal

Stealing the horse was easy enough, those oafs were as trusting as newborn pups. Never trust a sellsword, unless you can pay him. I left the sparse landscape behind me and made for the forests to the south, and then to the west. Hopefuly the guardsmen have given up on finding me.

I've found a small hamlett someplace north of the King's road. Nothing much to see here, Sullen men and ugly wenches. Payed some coin to stay at a local inn... Quite dismal, but I can hardly say it's as bad as the dungeons.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I've left the hamlett, taking some salted meat, bread, cheese and clean water with me. I'm sure the inkeep won't mind that I left before he got up to get my coin. I'll head west, then north. Gunderland should be safe as any place, once the usurper's lapdogs give up their chase.

I've decided to take a break in my travels. The town I'm staying at, Tarcia was short a blacksmith. can't say I enjoy shoeing horses, but it's as good a place to wait for the storm to pass..
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Those dogs in Tarcia sold me out! One of them had relatives in the hamlett I'd stayed in a few weeks passed and recognized me on appearance and called the guard. I cannot linger, if the guard seizes me they will take me to Tarantia and when that dog on the throne finds out he has me in his clutches, the gallows await. I must leave, and swiftly.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I cut down two men in my escape from Tarcia. Not cutthroats, but honest men, as far as honesty goes. Going west is no longer an option, guardsmen will be looking for two crimes instead of one half forgotten one. I will travel east, to nemedia. I will steer clear of the King's road as long as I am in Aquilonia, but it should be safe to follow it to Belverus once I am past the border.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I must have been drifting on my way. The land is becomming barren, the nights colder. I would go south again, but I dare not. I will follow on... Perhaps some lordling in the border kingdoms will see the value of a skilled swordsman. Perhaps he'll be fool enough to trust him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
In the distance I see a few buildings. A very small village, at first I thought it uninhabited, but I see smoke from makeshift chimneys. I have little strength left in me, but perhaps this place is my salvation. Who would think to look for me here?
